Exclusive trailer! Now THIS is something I can get behind.

Hollywood simply doesn’t make movies like this anymore. Such truth…and triumph of the human spirit. Makes me proud to be an American.

2008 looks like it’s going to be filled with all the old stuff that Hollywood is famous for – and everything we’ve already seen. Is this the year that the reimaginings, reinventions, revampings and rehashings go too far?

Take a look and let me know what you think…

(crap, but that’s a long load time. sorry about that. please be patient.) (not so bad now. never mind. hee hee)

LOL DIRECTED BY BARRY WILLIAMS!!!! The king lives!!

Awesome job, Alan! The final series of shots really reinforces how many films are involved in regurgitating their past formulas. Geez … what a summer …

    “Screenplay by Someone They Underpaid.”

    I *love* his work!

As Bugs Bunny is fond of saying, “It is to laugh.” So why do I feel like crying? (Or at least sighing real heavy-like.) Nice work, B! You just assured that I’ll be spending the summer in revival houses!

I knew that hack Paul Haggis was attached.

    Nice work friend.

I love it. And I feel sad thinking of how that trailer would have fit last year too: Pirates 3, Shrek the Third, Spider-Man 3, Rocky Balboa, Harry Potter and the Wizard’s Heat Rash and so on… You know what? I feel like looking back on 2007 and counting the remakes and/or sequels. Have you guys done that already? I’ll be right back…

Okay, I’m back. I counted 32 remakes and/or sequels in 2007. And now I realize Rocky Balboa was 2006, so sorry about that.

But Rambo is 2008, so I guess Mr. Stallone wanted a gap in between reckless sequels.

By the way, 32 is somewhere around 9% of every movie released that year. But, sadly, nine of the top 20 grossing films were remakes and/or sequels.

I’m gonna have to blog about this.

Ray: I know this must be true every year, but this year just seems ESPECIALLY regurgitated – and even though I’m looking forward to some of them like Indiana Jones and Get Smart (and I didn’t even include Speed Racer!), it still all feels a bit tired.

Dennis: Wait a second. You mean you can FIND a revival house in the summer?

Piper: That hack Paul Haggis is ALWAYS involved.

Norm: Thanks. I feel slightly more depressed than I did before.

Thanks to Ann and Matt, too, and to everybody who has stopped by from some of the generous bloggers linking to me from out there.
