I didn’t know the name of John Alvin before yesterday, when I read at Movie Poster Addict that the one-sheet artist had passed away. But taking a look through this wonderful sample of Alvin’s movie art makes it clear that I knew and admired the man’s work. From iconic pieces like those he created for E.T. and Blazing Saddles to so many other great ones. In particular, I’ve always loved this one, and once had an original of it in my collection before I moved from California. Alvin’s talents will be missed.

Not only did the director of Crystal Skull find Michael Bay’s movie to be “awesome”, but in Michael Bay’s opinion, Spielberg might even feel that the movie is perhaps Michael Bay’s best. Awesome news for Michael Bay fans of Michael Bay movies! (

What happened to your poster? Are you sad that you don’t have it anymore?

Sr. Irene: I had to sell a bunch of stuff before I moved away from CA; or I may have given it to my insane neighbor, I can’t remember. I’m a little sad; that was an awesome poster!
