William Shatner isn’t sure that your pity is strong enough.

William Shatner, of course, is boo-hooing again that neither Paramount nor J.J. Abrams graciously asked him to appear in the next Star Trek movie, even while he’s kicking off a new “multimedia touring exhibition of Trek memorabilia”, according to SCI FI Wire. It once seemed as though Shatner tried to distance himself from his Trek-styled stereotyping, but these days you can barely read an item about him in which he doesn’t mention his non-involvement in the film. And the fact that this tour is kicking off now – with his attendant whining about the Trek movie – directly on the eve of the new movie’s trailer debut all strikes me as being entirely not coincidental.

I just keep thinking… has whining ever got anyone a part in a movie… aside from Paris Hilton that is.

He’s been making such a big deal out of it that I’m SURE he has a cameo in the film, and he and the producers are just trying to play it as a big surprise.

That has occurred to me as well, bob, but at the same time it seems as though his involvement in this Trek tour might suggest his effort to stay Trek-relevant outside of the movie – like “Hey, remember meeeee? The reeeeeal Kirk?”
