Mildly amusing movie one-sheet juxtaposition #3.

nothing succeeds like repetition repetition(click to enlarge)
Hollywood marketing pop quiz!
Somewhere in Hollywood, some poor slob of a graphic designer in a studio production department just thought:

  1. “Crap. Those guys totally took my idea.”
  2. “Crap. I am definitely stuck in a rut.”
  3. “Hooray! My derivative work has once again saved my job!”

Yeah, not much thought going on there, although I think the JUMPER one sheet has potential given the storyline … I think it needed another pass through the thought-o-meter. VANTAGE POINT leaves me cold. 27 DRESSES makes me slightly ill.

And to think, of the three one-sheets, I liked the Vantage Point one the best… then again, I think that is based more on some residual GTA love than anything.

Ray: I’ll agree; Jumper looks the best out of all three of these, although from the trailer, I do wonder why a “jumper” would teleport across the room simply to save 40 seconds in getting a soda pop out of the fridge. Seems like a silly waste of energy for a nifty special effect.

Vantage Point looked cool the first time I saw the trailer, and about 78% less so in the one time I’ve seen it since.

And at least 27 Dresses will provide Katherine Heigl with a non-female-stereotyped romantic comedy vehicle that can satisfy her intellectually superior, socio-political needs.

Oh, that’s right. No it won’t and she’s a moron.

Arguably, 27 Dresses is the only one that makes any thematic sense. Then again, it’s horribly difficult to read and the movie sounds dire. Vantage Point is trying to get some message across, but I can’t figure out what it is. Jumper seems unnecessary but it’s less of a graphic design abortion than the other two, so I can see where you’re coming from.

You are always so creative. I love all your ideas.

@ Liz – The JUMPER poster is trying to convey that inside of Hayden Christensen are all of these places that he can visit on a whim. I get the point of the poster, and graphically I think it’s the most successful of the three. However, it’s not good.
