“When your most impressive post-second-Oscar role is the bad guy in Bryan Singer’s ferociously adequate Superman Returns, you might want to consider getting a new agent.” So says Nathan Rabin at The A.V. Club Blog in his dissection of Pay It Forward, #93 in the site’s “so well written I hate myself for not writing it” series My Year of Flops. These articles always make for entertaining reading, but when the topic is a film as misguided, miscast, misconceived and so senselessly fatuous as Pay It Forward, any additional critical drubbing is not only welcome, but admirable.
