Here’s the part where I realize the critical error of my master plan. »

When I concocted this bright idea of rerunning 10 “classic” articles from Burbanked’s archives to celebrate my second blog-birthday, it somehow escaped my notice that anyone viewing this site via RSS feed would think that I’ve dropped off the face of the planet for the next two weeks or so. Smart planning, that. So if [...]

Tomorrow Burbanked is two years old. Hey now. »

To be honest, I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around the concept of whether two years of blogging is a lot or not. From one standpoint, it seems like a lot. With just under 500 posts to the site’s credit, I’ve tried hard to keep things fresh and interesting, although I know I’m [...]

Hello, Santa. It’s me, Burbanked. »

I know what you’re thinking. Here I haven’t written to you in roughly 36 years, and all of a sudden I’m going to drop you a line and make a request – just like everyone else does at this time of year. And I’m sorry, Santa, but as I get older the idea of Christmas [...]

Turning the Lazy Eye on one of David Fincher’s best. »

Today’s “wow” moment comes courtesy of the ever-insightful Piper at Lazy Eye Theatre who draws a pretty damn spectacular parallel between David Fincher’s terrific 1997 movie The Game and a certain oft-recreated Christmas story. This comparison never occurred to me, and it’s really a delightful discussion-starter.

The A.V. Club Blog punches Haley Joel Osment in the breadbasket. »

“When your most impressive post-second-Oscar role is the bad guy in Bryan Singer’s ferociously adequate Superman Returns, you might want to consider getting a new agent.” So says Nathan Rabin at The A.V. Club Blog in his dissection of Pay It Forward, #93 in the site’s “so well written I hate myself for not writing [...]

You Must Choose – which new one-sheet sells The Dark Knight the best? »

This has turned into Movie! One-Sheet! Week! at Burbanked, with Indiana Jones a handful of days ago and now three new posters heralding Christian Bale’s return to the dark world of latex, psychotic badguys and the fine art of using only the lower half of one’s face to act.
We first saw a Batman-themed one-sheet [...]
