An excellently creepy I Am Legend quickie.

Here’s a nifty little TV spot for the December flick I Am Legend that I saw today on Movie Marketing Madness:
I have mixed feelings about Legend, only because I love the source material and what we’ve seen so far looks pretty good. I’m just always concerned when it comes to Will Smith that a good premise, filled with tension, will be ruined by his patented chuckling one-liner non-jokes and goofy sidelong glances. But I do like this spot, and I love the fact that it’s selling the movie without voice over, plot set-up or any of the other heavy-handed tactics we usually see.
This clip, however, points up one of my oldest questions about action movies: why do so many movie characters dive out of non-ground-floor windows as a means to safely escape something chasing them? I understand the desperation, the panic that’s implied in such a choice. But I also think that if self-preservation is your primary concern, you’re not all that likely to plunge head-first from a window when you don’t know 1) how thick the window might be, 2) how far away the ground will be on the other side and, most essentially, 3) whether or not this particular strategy is likely to improve or worsen the danger you’re already in.
Still, it looks cool. So there’s that.

Aw, Hell NAW!!!
The trailers have already ruined my hopes for this thing, what with all of the CGI beasties and unnecessary action cues. And you can just bet your wife’s sweet purity that Smith will say something “cute/funny” to that fucking dog of his.

Of course your concerns are not without basis, Ray, but there have been a couple of cool moments in this campaign.
I hate seeing all of the outbreak backstory with the wife and all, but in general I’ve felt borderline optimistic.
