The Rec Show speaks. And draws. And oh holy crap is it great.

I know that I’ve sung the praises of the thugs and miscreants over at The Rec Show a number of times before, but today they’ve got something going on that is truly inspired. Do yourself a favor and don’t even finish what I’ve got to say about it. Just click the link as soon as I give it to you.
Here it is. Here’s the link. Go now.
What, you’re still here? Okay, I’ll tell you a little about it.
Ray has posted a story today expressing some dissatisfaction with a handful of websites that have jumped aboard the Sex and the City movie-news-reporting bandwagon. Will Carrie and Mr. Big stay together? Is Charlotte finally pregnant? What about Miranda’s baby?* Ray suggests that there’s more than a little disconnect between the target audience for the sites he’s talking about and the SATC content matter, and of course he’s right.
But that’s not even what impresses me. To make his point, Ray usues a blog widget I’d never seen before – Sketchcast – a kind of podcast/sketch pad hybrid thingy. Using this sensational little tool, Ray narrates his post while we watch him make little doodles and drawings to illustrate – literally – the things he’s talking about.
And I have to tell you, it’s frigging hilarious. A wonder of sight and sound. Ray’s patented brand of bitter sarcasm, coupled with crudely-drawn pictures – in every sense of that word – in the creation of 4+ minutes of blogarific joy.
You need to check it out. It’s NSFW. Go take your laptop into your company’s broom closet if you have to, but you should go watch it, watch it frequently and watch it now.
*For the record, I cannot convey to you how wretched I feel having just enough knowledge about SATC to recognize these little plot tidbits. Although I can barely spin the TV dial without coming across this show, and although I do keep it on occasionally long enough to discern such things, I do not and never did watch it regularly and will not under any circumstances ever pay to watch the utterly pointless and demanded-by-no-sane-movie-fan filmed version.

Alan, thanks for the slap on the back. It’s going to get worse before it’s going to get better.

Thanks for the link, Alan. When Ray discovered Sketchcast, the world became a little less safe, and a little less moral.
God help us.

A guy rambling into a microphone and doodling on a pad has no right to be amusing and entertaining…but it’s so. I look forward to more of those.

I agree wholeheartedly. We have more where that came from …

Ray,
You are very funny, but Alan is funnier. And he can draw.

Alan is still so taken with Sketchcast that he has not written since. Sigh.
