Bashing Michael Bay is the right of all sentient bloggers.

I was pretty much going to leave Michael Bay and his idiotic Transformers movie alone for a while after getting it off my chest yesterday, but now I come across Transformers: The Abridged Script at the wonderfully acerbic The Editing Room blog where movies are boiled down to their most sarcastic essentials and reprinted in screenplay form.
And what The Editing Room’s Rod Hilton does to Michael Bay and Transformers is damn close to genius.
I didn’t get very specific in my review yesterday, simply because there is so much wrong with the plotting and creation of Transformers that I felt overwhelmed in conveying all of my frustrations with it. But Hilton has done a fantastic job of digging through all the layers of idiotic conventions found in the movie, and he does so in a hilariously sarcastic format that is quick to read but packed with insight and solid criticism. It’s a wonderful, compact piece of writing that I really admire, and the site has a massive backlog of like-minded material. And not just hacktastic crapola like Transformers; Hilton takes his potshots at more highbrow, critically acclaimed fare as well.
As recently as May, The Editing Room fully converted to a blog interface to allow comments, RSS feeds and - Hilton claims - more regular updates. With the way movies are cranked out of the Hollywood cliché machine, I certainly hope to see plenty of that last promise in the weeks and months to come.
