Here’s the REAL reason that Transformers fans are unhappy with Michael Bay.

Well, we’re finally getting to see how Optimus Prime will look in next year’s Transformers movie thanks to a preview of an upcoming issue of Empire magazine, and I think we can all agree at this point that Michael Bay is not taking this movie seriously at all.
I mean sure, the flames have been a big deal to the hardcore Transformers fans, as well as Bay getting rid of Optimus Prime’s old-school boxy design, but it just seems like he’s trying too hard to make the ultimate hero of the Transformers world a little too….what’s the word? Human? Whimsical? Pop-culturey? Maybe this shot is simply from the “robots in disguise” part of the movie, but I really think that they might have saved these kinds of shenanigans for the sequel.
I just can’t stand it when filmmakers have no respect for serious-minded movie properties like giant intergalactic robots engaged in a centuries-old battle over energon cubes. What a shame.

Couldn’t agree more Burbanked.
Michael Bay has done nothing to impress me (a non-Transformers dude) and this new film looks like the typical Bay Americana action crap that we have seen time and time again from him in the past.
At this point, I have zero interest in seeing this thing.

You make an excellent point in that part where you agree with me.
And just as a heads-up, I’m running out right now to my local copyright office so that I can secure the worldwide rights to Typical Bay Americana Action Crap©.
Hope you don’t mind.

I think one major factor fanboys are blinded to is the fact that this movie has only got one gender behind it. My girlfriend, after seeing the trailer, had absolutely no interest in Bay or his Big Boy movie. My guess is she’ll either still be buying a ticket to Pixar’s next or saving her money for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Now the big question is what number do you multiply exponentially to her to get how many women (young and old) are just like her.
Of course, the more pertinent question is how many fanboys completely spazzing over this film have ever even kissed a girl. ^_^

Dave, the answer is “four”. Three if you count Michael Bay.
And for what it’s worth, Pearl Harbor was probably his Grown Up Movie To Expand (Or Generate) His Female Fanbase, and I think we all know how well that went.

Ah, I see, so the Shatner rule has been redefined to include Transformers geeks. For the record, I know someone who is one and is none too pleased with what Bay is doing AND just got married this past summer. I guess he might be one of the “trio” that might be harder to find than the final 5 Cylons.

I think that the word you’re looking for is “Geekformers”.
