On the 12th Day of Halloween, a Logline Freebie - “The 7,000-Year-Old Species”

logline freebies Along with everything else, it really seems as though Hollywood is running out of horror movie ideas, doesn’t it? How else can we explain that classic thriller, splatter and vampire movies are all getting redone, retouched and “reimagined”?

Well, Burbanked’s got the cure for that tired, hackneyed, uninspired, unmotivated, unoriginal screenwriter you’ve got trapped inside you. All you’ve got to do is steal my idea.

Take a look first at this item from Neatorama in which we learn that at least one male of its species tends to overcompensate in one physiological area when he’s been short-changed in the other, if you know what we mean, heh-heh.

And while this story may not leap out at you as quite fitting into today’s 12th Day of Halloween celebration, just take a look at the picture of that little beastie and tell me that it’s not itching to become a horror movie badguy. Here’s yer logline:

In a world where an ancient, alien evil returns to life and finds he’s unable to procreate, he puts his other “talents” to work wreaking vengeance and fury upon humankind.

Honestly? I probably shouldn’t be giving this one away so easily.

MTV: Is the ball in George’s court at this point? Ford: It is. That’s the process. With some general input he goes off and searches for the MacGuffin and then stumbles into a story. And at some point we have a chance to take a look at and give some input.
Now granted this is Ford’s opinion of Lucas’ “creative process”, yet still: when one of the three principals of the Indiana Jones legacy classifies the story creation process as a haphazard, one-man effort that only superficially seeks outside input, it’s hard not to feel frustrated.
