The Shield will be back on FX through 2008.

As some of you may remember, I am one very serious fan of the FX series The Shield, and wrote a spoiler-filled review** of this season’s shattering finale in March. And now, according to Variety, FX has ordered a seventh season of this amazing, Vic-tastic show before they call it quits.
It’s excellent news for a rabid fanbase left hanging by the events of last season and the ambiguity with which FX was leaking details about what would happen next - would there be an extended fifth season and that’d be it? More episodes after that? Like one of Claudette and Dutch’s suspects left to sweat it out in the interrogation room, we weren’t sure where to turn.
Variety reports that the next block of episodes currently in production will air early next year, with 13 more in 2008. The time between seasons for FX shows seems to last forever, but at least now that fans know what to expect, we’ll have something to cheer, complain about, anticipate, dread and - at least in my case - blog about.
And two more things we can be pretty sure of - Vic is about to get very, very angry; and it’s not going to end well for him at all.

** of interest, no doubt, to exactly no one, that Shield review is Burbanked’s most-read story. It also holds the record for most comments at a staggering “3″. Thanks, faithful-but-silent readers!

Dedicated screenwriting 101 here: From an interview with Harrison Ford on the MTV Movies Blog in which the inevitability of another Indiana Jones movie is mentioned:
How do I get out of this? I love going to the movies with my boys, opening up their minds to the great pleasures of cinema and all that, but this is a hard one. Please help me: do I suck it up and just go, or can anyone out there provide me with a plausible, kind-hearted, permanent way out? (
