Step forward, all actors who have a legitimate reason to worry about future misuses of their likenesses…

Actors Back Bill to Protect Likenesses

Ooops! Not so fast, Charles Grodin!

In related news, the state of Connecticut has revealed that it is now fresh out of celebrities. This comes as a group of famous celebrities was asked to speak out in favor of a law that would:

“forbid use of another person’s ‘right of publicity,’ such as their name, voice, signature, photo, image, likeness, distinctive appearance, gestures or mannerisms, for commercial purposes without proper consent.”

Unfortunately, with the Connecticut Celebrity Shortage now in its third month, it’s been difficult to find celebrities with useable, desirable likenesses to support the legislation. According to an unnamed source speaking on behalf of the bill’s supporters,

“We tried and tried to get lots of celebrities, and we started out very strong with Paul [Newman] and Chris [Plummer]. But then Charles Grodin was the only one who picked up the phone and quite frankly we weren’t sure who he was or what he looked like. But by then he had agreed to help us and we just weren’t sure what else we could do.”

Representatives for Mr. Gordon could not be reached for comment.
