We shouldn’t be surprised at how incredibly good Pixar’s Cars looks.

We’ll be honest; when we saw the first images and teaser trailer for mega-blockbuster-homerun-hitter Pixar’s next film Cars, they didn’t do much for us. The artwork seemed a little too goofy; the plot sounded a bit dumb.
And then AICN went and got an exclusive-two-days-ago look at the new Cars poster.
And oh my, are we kooky excited about it now. Get a look at the Cars poster and trailer after the jump.
Actually, I had the same reaction to A Bug’s Life and Finding Nemo - coolly disinterested at first, but then energized once the promotional engines started cranking. And in the case of Nemo, I wasn’t that into the movie until I actually saw it. But with Cars, it looks like Pixar is about to do it again, and do it again big:

Is it possible that Pixar is that extraordinary, mythic Hollywood beast - they never get it wrong, never stumble and fall, never fail to blow away our expectations? What, you need more evidence? Go here and take a look at the trailer, too. It’s damn near flawless! That’s one of the most beautiful pieces of film I’ve seen in a long time, and I’m watching it on a crappy 13″ monitor! It’s just stunning, very reminiscent of Finding Nemo where they’ve taken realistic locations and rendered them in gorgeous, exquisite detail.
I’m not even sure what else to say, except that in these days of box office doom-and-gloom, it’s comforting to have at least one Sure Thing. Cars opens in June and everyone on the whole planet is going to go see it.

Dedicated screenwriting 101 here: From an interview with Harrison Ford on the MTV Movies Blog in which the inevitability of another Indiana Jones movie is mentioned:
How do I get out of this? I love going to the movies with my boys, opening up their minds to the great pleasures of cinema and all that, but this is a hard one. Please help me: do I suck it up and just go, or can anyone out there provide me with a plausible, kind-hearted, permanent way out? (
