You Must Choose – a pitiable yet poignant grab for blogitmacy.

So now we’re well into the 2006 awards season, and everywhere we look, surf and TiVo there’s another actor-writer-producer- director-Hollywood-Foreign-Press-member who is desperately seeking your attention and validation through the presentation of some kind of fancy bookshelf swag.
We’re proud – no, we’re delighted – here at Burbanked to jump on the self-aggrandizing bus in the presentation of this special edition (well, it’s our first, anyway) awards-season survey. We’re not asking much. On the eve of the Oscar nominations, we simply want you to weigh in on two quickie Best Picture questions below – and in doing so, prove that anyone besides Mom is reading this add your e-voice to the dynamic, movie-savvy community of the Burbanked readership.
Just add a comment with answers to these:
- What film from 2005 will be nominated for and become the Best Picture frontrunner?
- What past Best Picture winner did you never see, and never plan to see for the rest of your natural life?
And…commence clicking! Only 170 votes per person, please.

The former point I think I am a bit late for.
#2 is easy. Forrest Gump. Hopefully people are shaking their heads “that never won..” If only that were the case.

Yep, the backlash against that movie was uglier than Gump’s “magic legs”.

All I want to know is when are you going to start talking about gay cowboys? I have an idea for a bi-racial gay buddy cop movie, with one character a disgruntled former priest, now that would be a real awards juggernaut.
You do ask a great question about Best Picture Films (how many do you own that you would watch over and over again?)
In the 77 years of Academy Award Best Picture Awarding, I count 22 films that I would want to watch again (if I owned them) and 16 that I would categorize as multi-watchers (see asterisks) (with only 7 multi-watches from the last 20 years).
My list:
1.Gone With the Wind*
2.Casablanca*
3.An American in Paris*
4.On the Waterfront
5.The Bridge Over the River Kwai*
6.Ben Hur*
7.West Side Story*
8.Lawrence of Arabia*
9.My Fair Lady*
10.The Sound of Music*
11.Patton*
12.The French Connection
13.One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest*
14.The Godfather II*
15.Chariots of Fire*
16.Amadeus*
17.The Last Emperor*
18.Silence of the Lambs
19.Braveheart
20.Titanic
21.A Beautiful Mind
22.The Lord of the Rings*
Overall, in the 77 years this is a pretty inconsistent track. I think that it would make a cool line chart.
